Keep Your Smile Safe

Even if you brush and floss your teeth consistently, there are factors that can harm your teeth outside of plaque and tartar buildup.

If you play sports or clench or grind your teeth while sleeping, there is always the chance of unforeseen damage to your teeth. In these instances, dental appliances can help preserve and protect your teeth and oral structures.

At Emerald Park Dental Clinic, our custom-made mouth guards can fit perfectly over your teeth to help protect your oral cavity from trauma.

If you happen to snore, it may be a sign of sleep apnea. This condition results in pauses in your breathing as you sleep. Dental appliances can be used to alleviate snoring and disruptions in breathing, aiding in the protection of your health and allowing you to get a good night's sleep.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Snoring is the result of throat tissues relaxing, causing the airway to become restricted. As oxygen is forced through the narrow airway, it causes the 'snoring' sound. If you or a family member snore, not only can it be loud, but it may also be a sign of sleep apnea.

When someone has sleep apnea, it means that the throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway. The brain will then be forced to wake the body up so it can breathe. Sleep apnea increases the risk of health conditions, such as coronary artery disease, heart attacks, heart failure, and strokes.

Your dentist may recommend a dental appliance to treat snoring and sleep apnea. These appliances should fit perfectly on your teeth and adjust the position of your tongue or jaw to open up your airway. This creates more space in your throat and keeps the upper airway from collapsing while you're sleeping.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

Our Emerald Park dental clinic offers personalized mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from trauma and damage.

Sports Guards

If you're hit in the mouth while playing sports, a mouth guard acts as a protective barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to keep your smile safe.

Night Guards

A mouth guard will help protect your teeth from damage if you tend to grind your teeth at night. If you clench your jaw while you sleep, a mouth guard can also help prevent clenching and even provide some pain relief.
