Bring Your Smile to Life
Most people experience some tooth discolouration over time. Consuming certain foods and drinks, imperfect oral hygiene practices, genetics, and other everyday activities can all play a role in how your teeth darken as you age.
Professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to lighten the colour of your smile. You should find the treatment to be quick, easy, and non-invasive. After whitening your teeth, you may have some tooth sensitivity for a short period of time, but this is typically only temporary.
Whether you're in a professional setting or just having a night out on the town, you may discover new confidence in your smile.
Contact our dental team who would be happy to sit down with you to determine if teeth whitening is right for you. We can navigate you through the process and answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding the treatment.
Treatment Options to Fit Your Lifestyle
Whiten your smile in our office or from the comfort of your own home.
Our goal is to help you achieve a bright smile in a way that's convenient for you. That's why we offer whitening treatment in our office under the supervision of a dental professional, as well as a take-home option you can do at your leisure. Whatever you decide, you can be on your way to a shiny new smile.
What are the Benefits of Teeth Whitening?
Discoloured teeth may cause you to be a bit hesitant to smile in certain social settings. Whitening your teeth can boost your self-confidence and have you showing off your bright new smile every chance you get.
Since whitening treatment is designed to remove stains from the outer layer of your teeth, it can also eliminate harmful bacteria, plaque, and tartar build-up. Additionally, you may find that it encourages you to improve your oral hygiene, so you can retain your whiter smile.
How Teeth Whitening Works
Our dentists use a peroxide-based gel. This gel breaks down stain molecules on your teeth, which can result in a whiter, more vibrant smile.
The peroxide gel is non-toxic and non-allergenic, so you can feel comfortable knowing your whitening treatment is as safe as it is effective.
Different shades of white suit different people's teeth. Your dentist will choose the right shade that will best fit your smile.
In-Office Teeth Whitening
In-office whitening is ideal for patients who would rather have their teeth whitened in one appointment at our dental office, as opposed to managing the process at home.
First, a barrier will be placed around your gums to protect them. A thin layer of whitening gel will then be applied to each tooth. Following the completion of whitening treatment, you should find that your teeth appear visibly whiter.
Personalized Take-Home Teeth Whitening
We know that coming to our office for whitening may not fit your schedule. Our at-home treatment process offers a whiter smile at your convenience.
For this process, we take impressions of your mouth to make custom whitening trays. You will be provided with a whitening gel that is to be applied to the trays and worn for the length of time your dentist suggests. Once you're done and remove the trays, your teeth should appear visibly whiter.

-
How long do the effects of teeth whitening last?
Whitening is not a permanent treatment. Beverages such as coffee and wine, and certain foods, such as those that contain turmeric, can stain your teeth after they have been whitened.
The effects of whitening can vary depending on the patient's habits and lifestyle. If you maintain a healthy oral hygiene routine, you may just require a touch-up after one year or so.
-
Does insurance cover the cost of teeth whitening?
Dental insurance does not typically cover the cost of teeth whitening as it is an elective treatment. Check with your insurance provider to confirm whether they will cover any of the cost.
-
Does teeth whitening make teeth more sensitive?
Sensitivity is one short-term side effect of teeth whitening. For most patients, any sensitivity will fade away within a few days of the whitening session. To minimize any discomfort, we recommend that you use an anti-sensitivity toothpaste before your whitening treatment, and for at least two weeks following your treatment.
-
Do teeth whitening products work on all stains?
Generally, brown, and yellow-coloured stains have the best response to teeth whitening treatments. However, some stains may not respond to whitening at all. If having a whiter smile is important to you but your teeth have stains that won't come out, your dentist may recommend other cosmetic treatments such as dental crowns or veneers that may be more effective.
-
Does teeth whitening work on dental restorations?
Unfortunately, teeth whitening only works on natural teeth and will not be effective on dental restorations such as dental crowns or veneers. If crowns or veneers are part of your treatment plan, teeth whitening should occur before receiving your dental restorations.
-
Will teeth whitening damage my tooth enamel?
When used under the supervision of a qualified dentist, it is very unlikely that teeth whitening treatment will damage your enamel. Always consult with your dentist to make sure you're using any teeth whitening products safely.
If you experience any pain, sensitivity, or discomfort anywhere in your mouth, tell your dentist right away. Even if it’s not a whitening-related issue, they will be able to help.
